Engagement Session

I have finally come around to posting these! We took our engagements a couple weeks back and we had so much fun this day. The props were really impromptu and I decided last minute to just pick up some flowers from Broulim’s and use them in the photos. I will post our outfit details at the bottom as well.

Also, Cassie is the best! Not only is she my soon-to be sister in law but she is a great creative photographer. We took these just outside of Teton, Idaho, just before you get up the mountain to Packsaddle Lake. It was freezing this day so we just decided to take the photos in a field and among trees. This was a fun shoot and I am so happy with the outcome. I will truly treasure these forever.

Adams Canyon Daytrip

What can I say? We love the outdoors….

The computer that I am currently typing on literally has a million stickers on it (more like 10) just exclaiming how much I love the outdoors! One of my favorite quotes is from a Park City sticker that says “Adventure starts when plans end”. Such a simple quote but it really has a lot of meaning to it.

We did exactly that last Saturday when we had a free afternoon after a day of traveling for 10 hours straight from Salt Lake to Boise and back (I told you, we really do love to travel).

We decided to go to Adam’s Canyon, located in Layton, Utah. At the end of the hike is a waterfall but we didn’t want to push ourselves too far so we just decided to go halfway and hammock at the very top of the canyon. I got to say this place is beautiful and it might be my new favorite hiking area.

Adam’s canyon is located about 30-45 minutes from Salt Lake City. And I am telling you this hidden gem is really hidden. If there was no Google maps, I would be lost.

When you first start the hike you come across what looks like stairs but really are just steep hills with wooden railing on the side, which makes it easier to get up. This part proved to be the most difficult part of the hike but other than that it is a pretty intermediate hike. Also at the very top you get rewarded with a gorgeous view of the Great Salt Lake!

We hung up our hammock (which is our new obsession) and put it on these two tree branches where we were able to chill and fall asleep for a little bit, which was nice.

If you ever get to visit Salt Lake, definitely sacrifice the drive to this place and spend a day exploring the beauty of the canyons of Utah. You won’t regret it.

Hi everyone! I hope your having a great week so far. Its almost Friday. (Holla!)

Okay, so I pretty much live for  a good portrait photo. I think everyone in their life should have a portrait of themselves done right, because I mean who doesn’t love a good photo of themselves (you know your thinking that too).

My wonderful (soon- to be) sister in law is an amazing photographer. I really look up to her skills of photography and the way she uses natural lighting in her work. If you need a photographer in the Idaho/ Utah area. Check her out!

We had an impromptu shoot at her loft in Idaho and it was so random but so fun. These photos were taken last spring but I still really admire them. Whenever I see them I think teenage witch meets Bohemian loft….. haha I know weird combo right. But it works!

Zoo Trip

We went to the zoo! This past week we headed to Utah’s Hogle Zoo. Located outside of Salt Lake City. We were there to celebrate Hyrum’s nieces birthday and it was so fun! Very exhausting but fun.

Their are several exhibits and tons of animals to see. Even though we did not get to see every single animal we saw a good chunk of them all. Lions, Tigers, Panthers and Bears!

Our favorite exhibit was probably the seals. They were very lively and practically put on a show for everyone there. It was really interesting to see them play and swim effortlessly in the water through all the rock medians in the water. The kids had an absolute blast as well! I mean look at the girls faces!!

Overall it was a very eventful day full of love and happiness and a whole lot of animals. Forever grateful for my second family.

10 Wedding DIYs you will Love

Wedding Fever is high in my house! Anticipating a wedding in July is a lot of work for the months coming up to it.

Why not share some DIYs that I love and will save me money in the long run. Its the perfect combination, here are some of my favorites that will definilty be making a cameo at mine:

This Wedding Mad Libs will be sure to be a big hit at your wedding and it helps to get to know the bride and groom a little more.

Wedding Mad Libs Printable

Donut Bars are definitely “in”right now and they most certainly will make an appearance at my own wedding. All you need is a chalkboard sign and a couple of cake stands to display this very easy display.

These DIY printable sparkler send offs by Ever Mine Weddings are so easy and the great send off favor!

This DIY Baby’s Breath Flower Crown is so exceptionally pretty that you cant help but have fun with this and make it for your special day.

This is a DIY that we are also doing and it is so simple and easy!! Seriously! We got our wooden pallets from the back of a Costco. Lots of stores have wooden pallets from deliveries and they should be free to just grab but if they do charge it should just be a small amount! Also, these plants can be natural or you could find some flowers at Micheal’s craft store.

This one is a super beautiful display that can really make a room stand out. Love this DIY from Paper & Stitch.

Lots of floral incorporated into this post but these maybe a more intricate DIY but I have seen these at my friends wedding and they were incredible for people to pose in front of.

Baby’s Breath is a big floral wedding trend but I really love the simplicity of this flower and this DIY for your groomsmen.

Balloons are a major staple at any party but why limit that to just birthday’s. Weddings need some love too, so I really like this one from Sweet Thing.

Chalkboards are going to be a major trend at weddings, if not already. I love this alternative to just a wooden board.

Dream Home…

I have been relentlessly shopping online nonstop everyday for the past two months looking for the perfect furniture for our home in August! I know what your thinking, August? You have enough time.

But in reality I know if we put off furniture shopping, I will regret it and have a bridezilla meltdown, so I cannot help but log onto the holy grail of all inspirational boards, Pinterest, to look at all the holiness that it has for inspiration. Here are some of my faves:

Love. Love. Love this one from Design Sponge. The faux calf skin on the floor works perfectly with the mix of green textures from the plants. Simple and clean.

Warning* I will use the word love in almost every picture. But honestly, truly, I love this space and the black and white patterns that just mesh perfectly with the orange hues. So southwestern-ly chic of you.

The hung shelf in the room really adds this unexpected amount of depth into the room and by having the art work at eye level makes it that much more enjoyable. *heart eyes*

If you do not know NewDarlings you have been living under a rock because they are literally goals. I die at their new space.

The idea of White Furniture and Greenery makes me swoon. Bring on the cacti and succulents.

This space is so fun and fresh. Seriously dig a good tribal rug.

Fur Rug and wood mix so well together, especially this dark wooden one. Adds so much dimension and a hint of bohemian to the room.

This minimalist office space is beautiful. There are similar drawers at IKEA that are so dreamy in an all white space.

Grey tones are so beautiful and I enjoyed the dark grey and light grey tones together and I love this woven baskets and wooden accent tables.

This black and white rug is perfect under the dining table and works great with the huge painted mural above the side table. Styling points right there!

Hope you enjoyed my little dream home escapade! I cant wait till we have a home all to ourselves and we get to paint the walls and figure out how to style it. Forever will obsess over these homes.

Spring is in the air

Uncategorized, WEAR

Spring is here! At least there have been some days of warmer weather here, so I guess spring isn’t here yet but one can only dream.

Spring to me means being barefoot as much as possible, flowers, cute spring time outfits and outdoor adventures. So you could say I’m pretty excited about this upcoming spring, especially with all the road trips we have ahead!!

For those cute spring outfits, Thrift stores are one of my favorite places to find those transitional pieces from winter to spring and I found the perfect denim button up skirt to make any outfit unique.

This hat was also thrifted and cost me $5!!
I’ve got to say I love a good fit and this outfit goes perfectly unexpected together. It’s a good mix and balance of colors that I adore in an outfit that makes me feel comfortable and confident.

So go hit up your local thrift store and look for those unexpected pieces.
